Revolutionary, outspoken, and dedicated are all words that describe the essence of Jeanine Bashir. She is the founder and principal consultant of Bashir and Associates, LLC. Her professional career has included working with various organizations that serve the community & government sectors alike. Jeanine has been recognized for her work in the community regarding women and children’s issues, early childhood development, parent and volunteer engagement, maternal & child health issues, child welfare, public health, mentoring, and nonprofit management.

Accomplishments & Awards

Jeanine was honored by the State of Black Arizona as a Community Luminary and was selected to be a member of Valley Leadership’s Class 35 Leadership Institute, an executive leadership program. Most recently, she was awarded Valle Del Sol’s Profile of Success Orgullo Award for her leadership within the community as it relates to her work in the Early Childhood System. She was also recognized by the Phoenix Chamber of Commerce’s 2021 Athena Award for her work in the community. The ATHENA Award is an international honor that recognizes women who demonstrate excellence in professional leadership, community service, and mentorship of future leaders.

Raised in an economically humble but culturally rich community, Jeanine developed a deep understanding of the diverse challenges and opportunities that exist within our society. From an early age, she recognized the importance of advocating for those whose voices are often marginalized or unheard.

Driven by a desire to create a more just and equitable world, Jeanine has dedicated their life to championing causes that promote fairness and inclusivity. Through their tireless efforts, she has spearheaded numerous initiatives aimed at addressing systemic injustices and dismantling barriers to equality.

Her leadership experiences Include: Serving as a Commissioner for the Arizona Doula Advisory Board, Commissioner for the City of Phoenix Youth and Education Coalition, managing a funding portfolio of $100 Million for the state of Arizona, the inaugural Chair of Valley Leaderships Child Welfare Committee, Former Board President of Omega Youth Leadership Council, and Founder of Harriet’s House.

Jeanine is a dynamic community advocate and agent of change dedicated to driving positive transformation at the grassroots and systems levels.

Examples of her advocacy work Include:

Training the first Cohort of Community Doulas in Arizona to support the needs of mothers in the community.

Developing and supporting programs and advocacy efforts to address infant mortality and mother mortality rates with a focus on the African American and BIPoC communities.

Cultivated partnerships with the City of Phoenix efforts resulted in an increased number of family resource centers located in South Phoenix from 5 to 10 centers resulting in 1,500 additional families served and over $500,000 leveraged in resources.

Facilitated advocacy efforts with the City of Phoenix Departments and City Council members resulting in a $4 million childcare investment from the city.

Jeanine is a global citizen and cultural enthusiast. She has an innate curiosity about the world and its diverse cultures. She has embraced the concept of global citizenship as a guiding principle in her life’s journey.

Driven by a desire to bridge divides and promote unity on a global scale, Jeanine has dedicated herself to promoting social justice and community-centered practices that center all of humanity. Her advocacy and systems change work has focused on child welfare, access to care, criminal justice reform, and many other issues that focus on women’s and children’s issues. She has supported and facilitated projects and organizations across the globe. Additionally spent time alongside and absorbed wisdom from elders and practitioners hailing from various corners of the globe.

As a true global citizen, Jeanine believes in the power of dialogue, empathy, and community collaboration that acknowledges transcend boundaries and creates positive change. Her efforts to promote understanding and mutual respect serve as an inspiration to others, reminding us all of our shared responsibility to be stewards of our planet and advocates for a more peaceful and equitable world.

Examples include contributions to the United Nations Handbook on Domestic Violence, training communities to support young women in STEM, Serving as the Vice President of the American Women’s Association in Kenya, and working with communities to build water dams. Her most recent work includes supporting projects in Kenya, Senegal, and Ghana.
